Summer is over

Summer is over... It still will be hot and we will still pay the high energy bills, but for all real reasons Summer is Over. I always enjoy summer so much. It is a time to be with family, read a novel, clean out those closets or other hard to reach places that you have wanted to do all year. Summer is a time for that great vacation you planned for 9 months and then it went by too fast.
But summer for teachers is a time to rejuvenate for the next year. I went to a 3 day conference in Galveston and with 1200 other teachers from South Texas area. I really got inspired to teach reading in some new and different ways. So teachers really do rest and we really do get ready for the next new crop of young minds.

I have alot of teachers in the family. They are all thinking about the new group. This will be my 36th year to have a new group . Pam now has one up on me. I know as I look back over the different classes there are always a few who stick out in my mind. Alot of good and a few bad. On a sad note I did teach one who arrested this summer on suspected murder. That saddens me...

But more students are leading productive and fullfilling lives. Since I taught my 3 kids in the 5/6 grade, their classes stick in my mind. I hope those are leading a good and productive lives.

I want to give a shout out to the teachers in my family and extended family. They know all the blood, sweat and tears it takes to get ready. So for Brad, Amy, Sharon, Tim, Caroline, Emily, and future teacher Crystal have a great year. Make this your best, make it the one you will always remember, make this year the one you look back and say WOW what a class. I plan to do that and I know it will!!!!
